Maruti’s Hybrid Game-Changer: Unveiling the 2024 Suzuki Ertiga Cruise Hybrid with New Mild-Hybrid Tech

In a bold and strategic maneuver, Maruti Suzuki has introduced the 2024 Suzuki Ertiga Cruise Hybrid at the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (IIMS), a move that could potentially disrupt the dominance of the Innova Crysta in the MPV segment.

The latest addition to the Ertiga lineup not only showcases a fresh and sporty aesthetic but also marks a significant evolution with the incorporation of a new mild-hybrid petrol engine.

The exterior of the 2024 Ertiga Cruise Hybrid is adorned with eye-catching cosmetic enhancements, including new LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), chrome embellishments on both front and rear bumpers, side body decals, a sleek short antenna, an upper roof spoiler, and stylish dual-tone alloy wheels. The model is available in exterior color options like Pearl White with Cool Black and a monotone Cool Black, aiming for a dynamic visual impact.

Beneath the surface, the Ertiga Cruise Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B Smart Hybrid petrol engine, a departure from the India-spec Ertiga with its K15C counterpart. The upgraded engine features a larger 10 Ah battery pack to support the mild-hybrid system, contributing to improved fuel efficiency.

The model boasts a claimed mileage of slightly over 20 kmpl in Indonesia, maintaining robust performance with 103 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options are available to cater to diverse preferences.

Beyond performance, the 2024 Suzuki Ertiga Cruise Hybrid offers a range of features, including a black and grey color scheme, cruise control, ventilated cupholders, auto climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Suzuki Indonesia expresses confidence in the mild-hybrid version, offering an impressive 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty.

Priced at 288 million Indonesian Rupiah (approximately Rs 15.3 lakh) for the manual variant and 301 million Indonesian Rupiah (around Rs 16 lakh) for the automatic, the Ertiga Cruise Hybrid sets an ambitious tone. While initially targeted at the Indonesian market, the anticipation grows about Maruti Suzuki introducing this game-changing variant to Indian roads, potentially reshaping the landscape of MPVs in the country.
