Mahindra’s XUV300 Facelift: A Glimpse into the Future of Affordable SUVs

Mahindra, a name synonymous with rugged SUVs in India, is set to shake up the market once again with the launch of the XUV300 facelift. While the Scorpio and Thar have long been dominant players in their segments, the XUV300 aims to carve its niche by offering an alternative at a fraction of the cost. Recent spy shots near Mahindra’s Nashik plant have given enthusiasts a glimpse of what to expect from this budget-friendly Scorpio alternative.

What’s New in the XUV300 Facelift?

The XUV300 facelift undergoes a refreshing transformation with a redesigned front fascia and rear section. Drawing inspiration from Mahindra’s upcoming BE range of electric SUVs, the facelift boasts distinctive C-sized LED DRLs, updated headlamps, and a revamped front grille and bumper. The rear sports C-shaped lighting elements, a redesigned boot lid, and bumper. While the side profile remains familiar, potential buyers can anticipate new color options and, in the top-spec variant, possibly a set of fresh alloy wheels.

Interior Updates and Features

Inside the XUV300 facelift, a significant upgrade awaits. A large panoramic touchscreen infotainment system, likely a 10.25-inch unit, takes center stage. This is a notable jump from the existing 7-inch touchscreen in the current model. The SUV will also feature a new digital instrument screen and an updated central console. The test mule showcases beige upholstery, mirroring the current model, and retains the familiar steering wheel.

Safety Credentials

The XUV300 has earned its stripes as one of the safest cars in India, boasting a 5-star adult safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Speculations abound that the XUV300 facelift may also receive certification from India NCAP. The current model boasts over two dozen safety features, including six airbags, hill hold assist, corner braking control, electronic stability program (ESP), front parking sensors, and all four-disc brakes.

Powertrain Options

Under the hood, the XUV300 facelift maintains its existing powertrain options. These include a 1.2-liter turbo petrol MPI engine (110PS/200Nm), a 1.2-liter turbo petrol GDI engine (130PS/230Nm), and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine (117PS/300Nm). All engines offer 6-speed manual and 6-speed autoshift transmission options.

As Mahindra readies to unleash the XUV300 facelift in the first half of 2024, it aims to captivate the market with a perfect blend of affordability, style, and safety.
