Mahindra Unveils Enhanced XUV400 Pro EV with Revamped Interiors and Advanced Features

Indian automaker Mahindra has taken the wraps off the updated XUV400 Pro EV, showcasing a blend of revamped interiors, advanced features, and improved connectivity options. The launch announcement brings forth pricing details and key updates to the electric vehicle (EV) model.

Launch Details

Mahindra has revealed the updated XUV400 Pro EV with prices ranging from ₹15.49 lakh to ₹17.49 lakh for the top-spec EL Pro variant. These prices are introductory and applicable for deliveries until May 31, 2024. Bookings for the XUV400 Pro range will open tomorrow at 2 pm, requiring a booking amount of ₹21,000.

Redesigned Touchscreen and Interior

The standout feature of the updated XUV400 Pro is the new 10.25-inch floating touchscreen, leading to a significant dashboard redesign. The AC vents now flank the new touchscreen, providing a sleek and modern look. The all-black interior has given way to a black-and-beige dual-tone theme, complemented by a gloss black garnish on the passenger side and subtle copper accents. The steering wheel has also been upgraded to a new flat-bottom design.

Digital Display and Feature Additions

While the instrument binnacle remains unchanged, a new 10.25-inch digital screen takes the place of analogue dials. Both screens now run the Adrenox software, previously seen on the XUV700. Notable feature additions include dual-zone climate control with memory function, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa connectivity, rear USB ports, and rear AC vents, enhancing the overall functionality.

Comparison with Competitors

The updates bring the XUV400 Pro EV closer to competitors like the new Nexon EV. However, the Tata model still offers additional features such as ventilated front seats, a powered tailgate, 360-degree cameras, full-width LED light bands, and a larger infotainment screen on the top-spec variant.

Battery and Power Details

On the mechanical front, there are no updates. The EC Pro and EL Pro variants are equipped with the 34.5kWh battery, while the higher-spec EL Pro features the larger 39.4kWh battery. The former provides a claimed range of 375km, while the latter boasts a claimed range of 456km, both on the MIDC cycle. The EL Pro trim exclusively offers the faster 7.2kW AC charger.

Performance Characteristics

Both variants of the XUV400 Pro EV feature a front axle-mounted electric motor delivering 150hp and 310Nm of torque. The model maintains disc brakes for all four wheels, regenerative braking, and three drive modes.

In conclusion, Mahindra’s updates to the XUV400 Pro EV demonstrate a commitment to staying competitive in the growing electric vehicle market, with a focus on improved interiors, advanced features, and enhanced connectivity options.
