Luxury Cars Worth Crores Imported for G20 Summit Delegates

With the upcoming G20 summit set to take place at Pragati Maidan in Delhi on September 9-10, there has been a surge in demand for luxury cars to transport the delegates and officials. Several luxury cars and vans, collectively worth hundreds of crores, have been procured from rental companies in Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, and Bengaluru. To meet the high demand, some cab rental firms have even imported these vehicles from Nepal.

Among the vehicles acquired from luxury car rental companies for the G20 Summit, full-size luxury sedans are in the highest demand. Models such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach S600, BMW 7-Series, Genesis G80, and Audi A8 have emerged as the top choices for this prestigious event. Additionally, midsize cars like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series have been included in the elite fleet.

Most of these luxury vehicles have been sourced from car rental companies based in metropolitan and tier-1 cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, and Jaipur. For instance, Karachi Taxi Service (KTC), one of Delhi’s oldest car rental services, has provided an impressive fleet of 30-35 cars for the G20 Summit. The daily rental costs for these luxury vehicles can reach up to Rs 1 lakh.

What sets this event apart is the import of specific luxury cars and vans that are not officially available in India but are preferred by delegates and officials from around the world. In particular, KTC has imported several units of Toyota Coaster and Commuter vans from Nepal to meet the unprecedented demand. These vehicles will play a crucial role in transporting delegates from 5-star luxury hotels to Pragati Maidan and other locations during the summit.

Iqbal Singh, the owner of KTC, shared that he originally expected the newly added cars to arrive in his fleet by November. However, due to the government’s immediate requirement for the G20 Summit, he received priority deliveries of these newly-acquired luxury cars. To ensure a seamless experience, the drivers of these high-end vehicles will undergo proper training to communicate effectively in both Hindi and English.

As part of the summit preparations, over 30 luxury hotels in Delhi have been booked to accommodate the delegates, including heads of state and government officials from G20 member nations, such as US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. This influx of luxury cars reflects the grandeur and significance of the event, where world leaders will gather to address pressing global issues.
