Ioniq 5: Hyundai’s Electric Marvel Hits the 1000 Units Milestone in India

Hyundai Motor India has reached a significant milestone with the sale of over 1000 units of its all-electric crossover, the Ioniq 5, in the Indian market. Launched at an introductory price of Rs. 44.95 lakh, the top-spec variant is now available at Rs. 45.95 lakh.

The Korean automaker made a strong entry into the electric vehicle segment in India, achieving 500 units sold in July 2023. This success highlights the growing acceptance of electric vehicles among Indian consumers.

Driving Performance and Range

The Ioniq 5 comes in a single top-spec RWD version, featuring a 72.6kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor. With a power output of 216bhp and 350Nm of peak torque, the electric crossover delivers a thrilling driving experience.

One of the standout features of the Ioniq 5 is its impressive ARAI-certified driving range of 631km on a full charge. This not only addresses the range anxiety often associated with electric vehicles but also positions the Ioniq 5 as a practical and reliable option for daily commutes and long-distance travel.

Rapid Charging Capabilities

Hyundai has addressed another critical aspect of electric vehicles – charging speed. The Ioniq 5’s battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes using a 350kW DC fast charger. This quick charging capability adds a level of convenience for users, making electric vehicle ownership more accessible.

Looking Ahead

The success of the Ioniq 5 in India signifies a promising future for Hyundai in the electric vehicle market. As the demand for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options continues to rise, Hyundai’s commitment to delivering cutting-edge electric vehicles positions the brand as a key player in the evolving automotive landscape.

Future Prospects and Innovations

Hyundai’s achievement with the Ioniq 5 opens the door for more innovations in the electric vehicle sector. With advancements in battery technology, performance, and charging infrastructure, the automotive industry is poised for a transformative period.
