Indian Army’s All-Women Bike Rally: Celebrating Kargil Vijay Diwas with TVS Ronin

Kargil Vijay Diwas is a significant day for India, as it marks the victorious end of the Kargil War between India and Pakistan in 1999. To pay tribute to the brave soldiers who displayed unparalleled courage and determination during the war, the Indian Army has flagged off an all-women motorcycle rally in association with TVS Motor Company. This rally comprises 25 women riders representing the Indian Army, embarking on a seven-day road trip from New Delhi to Dras on TVS Ronin motorcycles, commemorating the 24th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The all-women motorcycle rally began its journey on July 18 from the National War Memorial in New Delhi. The riders will cover a total distance of 1,000 km, traveling through the plains of Haryana and Punjab, and overcoming the challenging mountains of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh before reaching their final destination, the Kargil War Memorial in Dras.

At the Kargil War Memorial, the brave women riders will pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and celebrate India’s triumph in 1999. The event also serves as a celebration of the spirit of women serving in the Indian Army.

The ride was flagged off by Gen. Manoj Pande, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC Chief of Army Staff, and Archana Pande, Chairperson of the Army Wives Welfare Association, accompanied by Vimal Sumbly, Head Business – Premium at TVS Motor Company.

The Nari Sashaktikaran Women Motorcycle Rally is organized with the support of Headquarters Northern Command and is in collaboration with TVS Motor Company, which has provided the riders with all-new Ronin motorcycles for the event.

The TVS Ronin is a powerful machine, equipped with a 5-speed 225.9cc oil-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve, SOHC engine producing 20bhp of power and 20Nm of peak torque. It features a USD fork suspension in the front and an adjustable mono-shock in the rear, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride for the participants.

This partnership between the Indian Army and TVS is a remarkable initiative, showcasing the indomitable spirit and dedication of female soldiers and highlighting the capabilities of an Indian-made motorcycle. It also reflects the commitment of both the armed forces and the automotive industry to honor and celebrate the courage and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces on this historic occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
