Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has achieved a major milestone in India’s electric vehicle landscape by expanding its Ultra-Fast charging station network. With the inauguration of 11 public charging stations, strategically placed in major cities and along vital highways, HMIL has become the sole Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in India to reach this significant achievement.
These Ultra-Fast charging stations are strategically located in cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Gurugram, as well as on major highways including Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Surat, and Mumbai-Nashik. Operating round the clock, the majority of these stations are staffed with marshals to assist electric vehicle (EV) users as needed.
Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director of Corporate Planning at HMIL, underscored the company’s dedication to progress and enhancing the EV ownership experience. In alignment with the Government of India’s goals, HMIL aims to create a comprehensive EV ecosystem, reducing range anxiety and expediting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
The deployment of Ultra-Fast DC chargers, with capacities ranging from 30 kW to 150 kW, ensures swift charging experiences for customers. Notably, Hyundai IONIQ 5 owners can charge their vehicles from 10% to 80% within an impressive 21 minutes.
To further streamline user experience, charging sessions can be booked through Hyundai’s dedicated app, myHyundai. The app also provides navigation to these charging stations, multiple digital payment options, and real-time charging status monitoring.
In addition to the recent expansion, HMIL has committed to installing 100 charging stations by 2027, aligning with its agreement with the Government of Tamil Nadu. This ambitious expansion underscores HMIL’s unwavering commitment to advancing smart mobility solutions and supporting the overall growth of electric vehicles in India.
