Honda Elevate Debuts in South Africa, Bringing the Spirit of Indian Engineering to Global Roads

In a momentous stride towards global expansion, Honda has officially launched the Elevate SUV, crafted in India, in the South African market. Priced at a competitive starting point of R 369,900 (Rs. 15.92 lakh), the mid-size SUV embraces the roads of South Africa, introducing enthusiasts to its distinctive design and robust performance. The Elevate arrives in two enticing variants – Comfort and Elegance, both retaining the tried-and-tested powertrain that has gained acclaim in the Indian automotive landscape.

Exterior Design Highlights:

The exterior of the Honda Elevate retains its charismatic appeal, featuring a commanding and upright bonnet adorned with ridges. LED Daytime Running Lights seamlessly integrate into the headlamp design, complemented by a bold blacked-out grille, functional roof rails, and an electrically adjustable single-pane sunroof. Notable design elements include L-shaped LED taillights, a rear spoiler, shark fin antenna, chrome-finished door handles, and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, all enveloped by black cladding for a rugged touch.

Colour Palette and Customization:

Offering a spectrum of choices, the Elevate is available in six distinctive exterior paint options, including Lunar Silver, Meteoroid Grey, Radiant Red, Phoenix Orange, Platinum White, and Obsidian Blue. While the first three boast a Metallic finish, the latter trio exudes elegance with a Pearl finish.

Interior Sophistication and Features:

Inside the South African-spec Elevate, Honda has maintained the elegance with black leatherette seats, a matching steering wheel, and a stylish gear lever. The cabin hosts an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, slightly smaller than its Indian counterpart, accompanied by six speakers, all four power windows, automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, and a wireless charger. Safety features include six airbags, providing a secure driving experience. However, the Elevate in South Africa skips the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, a highlight in the Indian version.

Performance Dynamics:

Specification-wise, the Honda Elevate for the South African market is equipped with the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Delivering a robust performance, the engine generates 119bhp and 145Nm of peak torque, offering a spirited driving experience. The powertrain options include a six-speed manual transmission and a CVT gearbox, catering to diverse driving preferences.

Warranty Assurance:

An interesting departure from the Indian warranty structure, Honda in South Africa presents a standard warranty of five years or 2,00,000 kilometres, showcasing the brand’s commitment to quality assurance and customer satisfaction.

In Shorts:

As the Honda Elevate embarks on a new journey in South Africa, it symbolizes the prowess of Indian automotive engineering reaching global destinations. With its captivating design, feature-rich interior, and reliable performance, the Elevate aims to make a lasting impression on the diverse and dynamic roads of South Africa.
