Gauss Launches RUV 350 Electric Scooter: Price, Variants, and Features

The BGauss RUV 350, a new flagship electric scooter, has been launched in India with a starting price of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in three variants – RUV 350i, RUV 350 EX, and RUV 350 Max – this electric scooter caters to a range of preferences and budgets. The ‘EX’ variant is priced at Rs 1.25 lakh, while the top-spec ‘Max’ variant is available for Rs 1.35 lakh.

Power and Performance

The BGauss RUV 350 is powered by a 3.5kW electric motor that delivers a peak torque of 165Nm, enabling the scooter to reach a top speed of 75kmph. It is equipped with a 3kWh lithium LFP battery that is IP67 rated, ensuring durability and reliability. BGauss claims that the scooter offers a range of 120km on a single charge, although this drops to 90km for the RUV 350 EXi and RUV 350 EX variants. The scooter comes with a 500W charger, which takes five hours to charge the battery up to 80 percent.

Design and Build

The RUV 350, short for ‘Rider Utility Vehicle,’ is designed with practicality in mind. Although it bears a resemblance to the BGauss D15 Pro in terms of body panels, the RUV 350 features all-new components. The design is reminiscent of step-through scooters commonly seen in South East Asian countries, prioritizing functionality over form. One standout feature is its bright-colored, 16-inch alloy wheels, which enhance the scooter’s ability to navigate broken or uneven roads, a common challenge in many parts of India.

Hardware and Features

The RUV 350 is built on a micro-alloy tubular frame, supported by a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is handled by drum brakes on both ends, providing adequate stopping power for urban commuting.

The scooter is packed with features, particularly in the top two trims. It boasts a five-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call alerts, and ride stats. Additional features include cruise control, reverse mode, hill hold, and regenerative braking. The base variant, however, comes with a simpler segmented LCD display and lacks these advanced features.

Competition

The BGauss RUV 350 enters a competitive market, going head-to-head with other popular electric scooters such as the Ola S1 range, Ather 450S, Ather Rizta, and the TVS iQube. With its combination of performance, practical design, and a robust feature set, the RUV 350 is poised to make a significant impact.
