Citroen C3X: French Automaker Set to Shake Up Indian Sedan Market with Hybrid Tech

French automaker Citroen is gearing up for a strategic move in the Indian automotive landscape, with plans to introduce a budget-friendly sedan that incorporates hybrid technology. The move comes as the company aims to strengthen its position in the market, going beyond its current offerings of C3, C3 Aircross, eC3, and C5 Aircross.

Despite facing challenges with customer response, Citroen is undeterred and aims to tap into the popularity of budget cars like Maruti Swift, Hyundai Verna, and Tigor in India. The upcoming Citroen C3X, a crossover sedan, is currently undergoing testing and is anticipated to hit the Indian market next year, competing directly with Tata Motors’ upcoming Tata Curve.

Features:

The Citroen C3X promises to be feature-rich, offering a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a modern dashboard, vertical air vents, and a three-spoke steering wheel. Safety features will include LED projector headlamps, LED DRL, dual-tone alloy wheels, EBD-ABS, rear parking camera, and rear parking sensors.

Engine and Specifications:

Powered by a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, the Citroen C3X is expected to provide both manual and automatic transmission options. Recognizing the increasing popularity of hybrid cars in India, Citroen may also offer a hybrid engine variant. With an estimated top speed of around 180 kilometers per hour, the C3X is poised to offer a balance between performance and fuel efficiency.

Design and Pricing:

Built on Citroen’s CMP modular platform, the C3X will showcase a notch-back design, providing ample leg space while having limited boot space. The rear windscreen is expected to rise along with the boot door, adding a unique touch to its design. While the official price has not been announced, industry insiders suggest a pricing range between Rs 12-14 lakh (ex-showroom).
