Benelli Unleashes the Tornado 400: Set to Rival Aprilia RS457 in Europe, India Launch on the Horizon?

Benelli, the renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer, has taken the wraps off its latest creation, the Tornado 400, marking its entry into the fiercely contested European market. Unveiled at the prestigious EICMA 2023 in November, the Tornado 400 is ready to face off against formidable rivals like the Aprilia RS457, KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and Yamaha R3. With its captivating design, power-packed performance, and A2 license-friendly features, the Tornado 400 aims to carve its niche in the competitive sportbike segment.

Key Highlights of the Benelli Tornado 400:

  • Curves and Sharp Lines: The Tornado 400 showcases Benelli’s signature design language, combining curves with sharp lines throughout its bodywork. The full-fairing, clip-on bars, and vertically styled LED headlamp contribute to its dynamic aesthetic.
  • Powerful Heart: Beneath the fairing lies a robust 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, delivering an output of 47.6bhp. This configuration aligns with A2 license restrictions, making it an attractive choice for a broader audience. The power is transferred to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox.
  • Sporty Chassis: The motorcycle features a tubular steel frame with a single-sided swingarm, providing a sturdy foundation. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, ensuring a sporty yet comfortable ride. Nissin calipers take charge of braking duties at both ends.
  • Tech-Savvy Delights: Keeping pace with modern trends, the Tornado 400 incorporates features like full-LED lighting, a full-color TFT display with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, USB charging, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

India Launch Speculations: Given the Tornado 400’s potential to make waves in a market segment gaining popularity, there are speculations that Benelli might be gearing up for an India launch. Enthusiasts and prospective buyers can anticipate the arrival of this sportbike on Indian shores either by the end of this year or in early 2025.

As the Tornado 400 storms onto the European scene, all eyes are on Benelli’s plans for a global conquest, with India potentially being the next battleground.
