Bajaj Revolutionizes Commuting with Affordable CNG Bikes Starting at Just ₹40,000

Bajaj Auto, a prominent name in the Indian automotive industry, has officially confirmed its foray into the realm of CNG-powered two-wheelers, marking a significant shift in the nation’s commuting landscape. The company’s Managing Director, Bajaj, shared this exciting development in a recent interview with CNBC, unveiling plans to introduce the country’s first CNG-powered motorcycle and scooter range.

The introduction of CNG motorcycles and scooters represents a groundbreaking move by Bajaj, offering consumers an affordable and sustainable alternative to conventional petrol-powered two-wheelers. Notably, these CNG-powered vehicles are poised to be competitively priced, with anticipated price tags falling within the ₹40,000 to ₹60,000 range.

One of the primary advantages of CNG two-wheelers, as highlighted by Bajaj’s MD, is their cost-effectiveness. These vehicles not only come with a lower purchase price but also offer substantial savings on fuel costs. In a time when rising petrol prices have become a growing concern for consumers, CNG bikes and scooters can provide much-needed relief by reducing fuel expenses by up to 50 percent.

Bajaj’s CNG motorcycle is expected to feature a 100cc engine, catering to the needs of budget-conscious commuters. This move aligns with the changing preferences of Indian consumers, as they increasingly explore electric options. Bajaj Auto currently offers a range of seven motorcycle models in the entry-level segment, including two 100cc options: the Platina and Bajaj CT 100.

Furthermore, Bajaj is not limiting its innovation to CNG-powered vehicles alone. The company is also gearing up to expand its iconic Chetak electric scooter range. After the festive season, consumers can anticipate the introduction of new electric scooter variants. Bajaj’s Chetak, known for its electric prowess, is set to witness an impressive production boost this festive season, with plans to manufacture 10,000 units.

In an electrifying twist, the company is rumored to be working on an electric scooter equipped with a swappable battery—a feature poised to enhance convenience and accessibility for electric vehicle users. By the end of the financial year, Chetak production is projected to increase from 15,000 to 20,000 units every month, solidifying Bajaj’s commitment to sustainable and affordable mobility solutions for Indian consumers.
