Bajaj Expands Trademark Arsenal with Zinger, Bomber, Elixir, and Aura

In a move that reflects its forward-thinking approach to product development, Bajaj Auto, a stalwart in the Indian two-wheeler and three-wheeler industry, has secured trademarks for a quartet of intriguing names – Zinger, Bomber, Elixir, and Aura. These newly acquired monikers join a host of other pending trademarks in Bajaj’s vault, hinting at the company’s ambitious plans for the future.

Bajaj’s Trademark Repository

Bajaj Auto has a long-standing tradition of trademarking names, a practice that often lays the groundwork for its upcoming products. While not every trademarked name materializes into a product, the recent additions to Bajaj’s trademark portfolio have sparked curiosity and speculation among enthusiasts.

The newly trademarked names are part of a comprehensive list that includes Neuron, Twinner, Eleganz, Vincent, Darkstar, Racer, Hammer, Swing, Genie, Freerider, Caliber, Twinner, Pulsar Elan, Pulsar Eleganz, Blade, Technik, Tecnica, Fluir, Fluor, and many others. These trademarks, like the newly acquired ones, offer a glimpse into Bajaj’s creative reservoir.

A Glimpse into the Future

As we delve into Bajaj’s history of trademarking names, it becomes apparent that these newly secured names are likely to remain dormant for a while. Bajaj recently announced its intentions to introduce six new Pulsar motorcycles, each bearing the Pulsar name with unique suffixes comprised of letters and numbers.

To illustrate, the recent homologation of the electric Chetak scooter still retains the iconic “Chetak” name. Therefore, names like Bomber, Zinger, Elixir, Aura, and the previously trademarked ones may not see immediate use. Some of these trademarks are also poised to complement other trademarks within Bajaj’s extensive portfolio. Among the newly acquired names, only “Zinger” has faced opposition, while the rest are marked as “Accepted & Advertised.”

A Diverse Product Lineup on the Horizon

Bajaj Auto has a robust product roadmap ahead. Company Managing Director Mr. Rajiv Bajaj has revealed plans to launch up to six new Pulsar motorcycles by the end of the current financial year. This strategic move aims to gauge the growth and profitability of these products by the following year.

Of particular interest is Bajaj’s focus on the premium motorcycle segment, characterized by powertrains typically exceeding 200cc in displacement and a price bracket hovering around the Rs. 1.7 lakh mark.

Additionally, the 150cc to 200cc displacement motorcycle segments hold significant importance for Bajaj’s future endeavors. Much of Bajaj’s efforts may be centered on this space, encompassing a wide range of motorcycles.

Furthermore, Bajaj has divulged plans for a 100cc CNG motorcycle, possibly slated for a launch in 2024 or beyond.

A Multifaceted Future

Bajaj’s portfolio expansion isn’t limited to traditional motorcycles. A sequel to the Chetak electric scooter is eagerly awaited, and the company has its sights set on introducing multiple new e-scooters for partner brands like KTM and Husqvarna.

With names like Zinger, Bomber, Elixir, and Aura freshly trademarked, the possibilities are intriguing. These names could potentially represent entirely new products, such as adventure motorcycles, larger cruisers, scramblers, or even proprietary technology for existing or upcoming models.
