Audi Q8 e-tron: Upgraded Electric SUV Arrives in India to Take on Jaguar I-Pace

Audi has introduced the Q8 e-tron in the Indian market, presenting a refreshed version of its first electric SUV, the e-tron. This electric SUV, available in both standard and Sportback coupe variants, comes with an array of updates and improvements, positioning it as a formidable contender in the electric SUV segment.

Under the hood, the Q8 e-tron boasts a 114kWh battery pack that delivers an impressive range of up to 600 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. Powering this electric marvel is a dual-motor setup that generates a remarkable 408 horsepower, ensuring exhilarating acceleration and a thrilling driving experience. Its primary competitor in the market is the Jaguar I-Pace.

In terms of design, the Q8 e-tron has undergone significant enhancements in its facelift. The vehicle now features blacked-out grille surrounds that extend beneath the headlights, while the redesigned grille at the top showcases a fresh mesh design and Audi’s monochrome logo. The front bumper has been reprofiled with larger air intakes, and both the standard Q8 e-tron and the Sportback variant sport stylish 20-inch alloy wheels. The blacked-out B-pillar displays prominent ‘Audi’ and ‘Q8 e-tron quattro’ lettering, and at the rear, a redesigned bumper and new Q8 badges complete the look.

Inside the Q8 e-tron, the interior layout closely resembles its predecessor, the outgoing e-tron. The vehicle offers powered front seats with memory function, heating, ventilation, and massage features. The cabin features two prominent touchscreens: a 10.1-inch infotainment screen and an 8.6-inch control screen for various vehicle functions. Audi retains its popular Virtual Cockpit Plus digital instrument cluster from the previous model.

Additional interior features include a 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, four-zone climate control, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

With its robust 114kWh battery pack, the Q8 e-tron achieves an impressive range of up to 600 kilometers on the WLTP cycle. The two electric motors deliver a combined output of 408 horsepower and 664Nm of torque, enabling rapid acceleration, with 0-100 kilometers per hour achieved in just 5.6 seconds (claimed).

The Q8 e-tron supports a 22kW AC charger and up to 170kW DC fast charging. With the AC charger, a full charge takes approximately six hours, while the DC fast charger allows for a 10-80 percent charge in just 31 minutes. The vehicle retains the convenience of charging ports on both sides.

In the Indian market, the Q8 e-tron faces its primary rival, the Jaguar I-Pace, with a price range of Rs 1.20 crore to 1.24 crore. With the discontinuation of the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the Q8 e-tron assumes a unique position in the electric SUV segment. Audi is expected to launch the Q8 e-tron in the coming weeks, offering customers an exciting and luxurious electric driving experience.
