Ather Energy, a leading player in the electric scooter segment, is all set to make a splash with the simultaneous launch of three new electric scooters. The much-anticipated event, scheduled for 12 PM, will be available for live streaming on YouTube. While Ather has already confirmed the debut of the Ather 450S, the identities of the other two scooters remain shrouded in mystery.

The star of the show is expected to be the Ather 450S, poised to compete with rivals such as the Ola S1 Air and TVS iQUBE in the highly competitive mid-range electric scooter market. Alongside the Ather 450S, the event may also unveil a revamped version of the flagship Ather 450X electric scooter.

Ather 450S: What’s on the Horizon?

The Ather 450S is slated to be a cost-effective electric scooter, aiming to bolster Ather Energy’s presence in the fiercely competitive electric scooter landscape. It is set to go head-to-head with the Ola S1 Air, another upcoming contender in the market.

While the Ather 450S may inherit design elements from the Ather 450X, featuring sleek LED headlamps, stylish indicators, and a distinctive LED taillight, it’s expected to sport a different instrument cluster. Anticipate the Ather 450S to feature a non-touch LCD display, diverging from the 450X’s fully touchscreen interface. Under the hood, it will house a smaller 2.9 kWh battery pack, providing a commendable range of 115 kilometers and a top speed of 90 km/h. Ather Energy has confirmed that the pricing will commence at Rs 1,29,999.

What Lies Behind the Veil of Mystery: Ather 450-Series Scooters?

Additional details about the two mysterious scooter models remain under wraps, but speculation suggests they might be revised variants stemming from the Ather 450X. In light of recent adjustments to the FAME-2 subsidy scheme, the prices for the 450X experienced an uptick, currently ranging from Rs 1.47 lakh to Rs 1.67 lakh. In contrast, the Ather 450S is poised to offer a more budget-friendly starting point. It’s possible that an intermediate variant could bridge the pricing gap between these models.

The Ather 450S is expected to replace the 7-inch TFT touchscreen display found on the 450X with a more economical LCD unit. While retaining the top speed of 90 km/h from the 450X, we might see a slightly less powerful motor compared to the company’s flagship product.
