The year 2024 is poised to be an exciting one for SUV enthusiasts in India as renowned car manufacturers like Hyundai, Tata, Mahindra, Toyota, and Kia gear up to launch an array of new SUV models. With the popularity of SUVs on the rise, these carmakers are looking to expand their market presence. Here’s a glimpse of the most awaited SUVs:

1. Hyundai Creta Facelift: In early 2024, Hyundai is set to unveil the long-anticipated facelifted Creta. This revamped model will feature significant exterior and interior enhancements, including a new 1.5L turbo petrol engine that produces 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque. It will also introduce Level 2 ADAS technology.

2. Kia Sonet Facelift: The refreshed Kia Sonet, frequently spotted during testing, will make its debut in early 2024. The facelift promises a complete visual overhaul and an upgraded cabin with new technologies and equipment. The powertrain options will remain unchanged.

3. Tata Curvv: Tata’s foray into the SUV market includes the electric version of the Curvv, boasting a claimed range of over 500 km. Following this, an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Curvv equipped with a 1.5L turbo DI petrol engine will be introduced. It aims to compete directly with midsize SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

4. 5-Door Mahindra Thar: The 5-door version of the Mahindra Thar will sport larger dimensions and share the same ladder frame platform as the Scorpio N. With an increased seating capacity and enhanced practicality, it won’t compromise its off-road capabilities. The familiar 2.2L diesel and 2.0L petrol engines will be available with manual and automatic transmission choices.

5. Mahindra XUV300 Facelift: Expected in the first half of the year, the Mahindra XUV300 facelift adopts an evolutionary design approach, taking inspiration from the upcoming BE range and the XUV700. It will introduce an updated interior, featuring a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new digital cluster, and more, while retaining the existing engine options.

6. Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor: The rebranded Maruti Suzuki Fronx, known as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, will receive minor cosmetic enhancements. It will be powered by the 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines, positioning it above the Glanza and below the Rumion in Toyota’s domestic lineup. The Taisor is expected to hit the market early in 2024.

7. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift: Spotted during testing, the updated Hyundai Alcazar is on the horizon. Anticipated changes align with the 2024 Creta, but the Alcazar will distinguish itself as a more premium model. It will feature Level 2 ADAS-based driver-assistive and safety technology.

8. Nissan X-Trail: The seven-seater Nissan X-Trail, poised to rival the Toyota Fortuner, is set to launch next year. It will offer a choice of a 1.5L petrol/mild-hybrid engine or utilize e-Power range extender technology. Loaded with features, it’s expected to make a strong impression.

9. 5-Door Force Gurkha: The 5-door Force Gurkha will enter the scene, competing with the 5-door Mahindra Thar and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It will be available in various seating configurations and is likely to retain the 2.6L diesel engine borrowed from Mercedes-Benz.

10. New-Gen Skoda Kodiaq: The Skoda Kodiaq and its sibling, the Volkswagen Tiguan, are poised for a generational shift in India in 2024, aligning with the latest models sold worldwide. The second-gen Kodiaq features extensive updates inside and out and offers petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options internationally.

The year 2024 is gearing up to be a remarkable one for SUV enthusiasts, with a plethora of exciting launches set to hit the Indian market.
