Chandrayaan-3’ Festival Kicks Off at Science Centre, Promoting India’s Moon Mission and Space Education

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The MGM APJ Abdul Kalam Astrospace Science Centre is hosting the ‘Chandrayaan-3’ festival, starting from today, featuring drawing, model-making, painting, and quiz competitions. The three-day event aims to raise public awareness about India’s upcoming moon mission and commemorate the 54th anniversary of man’s landing on the moon. Additionally, visitors can experience a virtual tour of the moon’s surface daily from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Shriniwas Aundhkar, the director of the science centre, emphasized that India’s upcoming moon mission provides an excellent opportunity to educate the masses, particularly the younger generation, about space and the universe. Various competitions and activities themed around Chandrayaan-3 have been organized to engage students, and special workshops will enhance their understanding of the moon and the solar system.

Regarding the screening of the lunar surface, Aundhkar mentioned that the public will have the chance to view the landing site of Chandrayaan-3 in the southern part of the moon, as well as previous landing sites, through a powerful telescope.

The festival will be inaugurated by G Sreekanth, the municipal commissioner of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Chandrayaan-3, scheduled for launch on July 12, is a follow-on mission by ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) to Chandrayaan-2. Its objective is to demonstrate the capability of safe landing and roving on the lunar surface, showcasing India’s advancements in space exploration.

The ‘Chandrayaan-3’ festival not only celebrates India’s achievements in space but also aims to inspire and educate the public, especially the youth, about the wonders of the universe and the significance of space exploration.
