In a significant move within the Maharashtra Police Department, Pune Joint Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Karnik, is poised to take on the role of Police Commissioner in Nashik. This strategic appointment comes as part of a major reshuffling of key positions, with an official order issued by the Maharashtra state government on Tuesday.
The reshuffle also involves the transfer of Nashik Police Commissioner Ankush Shinde, who will now assume the prestigious position of Special Inspector General of Police within the VIP Security Division of the State Intelligence Department (SID).
Sandeep Karnik, who assumed the role of Pune Joint Commissioner of Police in April 2022, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. His predecessor, Ravindra Shisve, had been transferred to the State Human Rights Commission in Mumbai, paving the way for Karnik’s tenure in Pune. Karnik had previously served as the Superintendent of Pune Rural.
As for Ankush Shinde, the outgoing Police Commissioner of Nashik, this reshuffle marks a new chapter in his distinguished career. Shinde had previously held the position of Police Commissioner in Pimpri Chinchwad before taking on the responsibilities in Nashik.
While these changes bring about notable transitions in leadership, the current Joint Commissioner of Police in Pune remains undisclosed. The anticipation surrounding this decision adds an intriguing element to the unfolding changes within the police leadership in Pune.
