On 5th February, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune experienced a temporary suspension of all license-related operations, including issuing licenses, due to system upgrades in the Sarathi 4.0 system facilitated by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
As reported by the Pune RTO, the ongoing technical upgrades in the Sarathi 4.0 system through the National Informatics Centre necessitated the temporary closure of all licensing operations at the Regional Transport Office in Pune on 5th February 2024.
In light of this, candidates who had scheduled license-related appointments on the aforementioned date are urged to reschedule their appointments at their convenience during the upcoming office days.
This development comes on the heels of challenges faced by Pune residents on 3rd February when license services were disrupted on Thursday and Friday. The disruption was attributed to a nationwide breakdown of the online system used by Regional Transport Offices (RTOs).
The breakdown specifically occurred in the National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) online system, responsible for running the Sarathi driving license application system. The NIC server experienced a nationwide outage on Thursday morning, leading to the suspension of various operations at the Pune RTO. These operations included issuing driving licenses (including learner’s licenses), renewing licenses, changing license addresses, and addressing issues related to fake licenses.
