A seemingly routine marital disagreement has taken an unexpected turn in Piplani, Bhopal, as a woman initiates divorce proceedings over her dissatisfaction with the honeymoon destination chosen by her husband. The decision to opt for Ayodhya and Varanasi over the anticipated getaway to Goa has become a catalyst for marital discord, leading to the matter reaching the Bhopal family court on January 19.
According to reports, the woman, employed independently, expressed that financial constraints were not an obstacle to an overseas honeymoon. However, her husband, working in the IT industry, insisted on a domestic destination, citing parental responsibilities. Despite initial plans for Goa or South India, the husband unilaterally altered the itinerary, booking tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi.
The surprise change, attributed to the husband’s mother’s desire to visit Ayodhya before the Ram Mandir consecration, left the wife disheartened. Although she complied with the altered plan during the trip, she subsequently sought a divorce upon their return, citing irreconcilable differences.
The woman contends that her husband prioritized his parents over her, leading to a breakdown in their relationship. In response, the husband dismisses the claims as unnecessary fuss. The Bhopal Family Court is currently facilitating counseling sessions for the couple, aiming to navigate the complexities arising from this unique marital dispute.
